I’m in Belize at the moment, away from parkrun among other things, but here are pictures from Millennium Country parkrun in Bedfordshire. It was September when I ran there, still fairly warm and sunny which is a marked difference from today’s weather in the UK. This course was probably a bit muddier today in late October.
This was a nice and easy parkrun. Easy parking (£1 for an hour, £2 for three), easy walk to the start, easy route along nice wide (easy?) paths. It’s a straightforward out and back, running three sides of a rectangle and then all the way back, with several marshals positioned so you can’t miss a turn.
If you don’t mind a mile or so’s walk to the start, there are a few free parking spots off Green Lane (whatthreewords: thudding.fired.stopwatch). I spotted those on a walk around the park after the event. They’re not on the route, so don’t expect to immediately pick up course markings if you’re exploring from that end.
The parkrun route covers a fair area of the path, but even within it there are other paths to explore. Parts of the park are blocked off for nature’s sake, with hides to look through. Plus the route goes round a small lake, with only fragmentary views, but there’s a whole other, larger lake to the North for a walk or cool-down jog afterwards.
